Primer
Miguel O'Hara is the Spider-Man of the year 2099 and creator of the Spider Society. Unlike most other Spider-Men, Miguel was not bitten but self-administered an experiment. This left him with differences like paralytics fangs, animalistic rage, and extendable talons. In his own universe, he's an extremely wealthy former engineer for Alchemax, though he pours that money into his work with the multi-verse. He works closest with a hologram AI assistant called LYLA, frequently seen flitting around and giving him a hard time.

In the face of multiverse threats, including some from his own tech, Miguel ensures the Spider-Men variants are empowered to protect themselves from anomalies. These anomalies are events, good and bad, that disrupt the 'canon' or fixed events all Spider-Men share in some detail. His intensity is driven by experiencing the horror firsthand, the unraveling of a universe he disrupted. This puts him at odds with some of Spider Society and Miles Morales, as Miguel will not allow them to save key loved ones and break the multiverse.

Includes comic backstory elements until confirmed otherwise.

First Impressions
O'Hara is scary tall, basically so clenched he could invert through his ass, and it's pretty intimidating — it throws and sometimes frustrates him a little when people aren't uneasy about him. Unlike his comic counterpart, his fangs are rarely shown. He has sharp features, red eyes, and stoicism to pack on the intimidation. At first go-around he seems serious to a cringe-worthy degree. For the savvy observer, it's almost immediately evident he's trying to be leaderly and tough.
Personality
WHO HE IS
In the glimpse seen at the end credits of Into the Spider-Verse, Miguel O'Hara is sarcastic, arrogant, risk-taking, easily flustered, yet brave and idealistic. O'Hara is more reserved and thoughtful compared to Parker's verbal avalanche, but just as intelligent and independent to a fault. Unfortunately for a man in a room full of Peter Parkers, he's incredibly easy to tease and throw off.

By the events of Across the Spider-Verse, Miguel has become markedly more rigid in behavior, more short-tempered. There are glimpses of the old Miguel, remarking about the coolness of his invention and sulking when poked by LYLA and Jess Drew. He still seems constantly dissatisfied and on his last nerve, barely coping with the mistakes of other Spider-People. Gwen cites that while he seems icy, he's a disciplined leader and educator.

For Miguel this isn't rage and impatience borne of a power trip, it's fury at himself. The death of his family by his own self-absorbed choice to disrupt a timeline and the death of billions that came with it is all very fresh to him. Dismiss of the sacrifice required to protect other worlds directs the self-blame he has toward others. This can drive him to say and do terrible things in moments of breakdown, such as physically attacking Miles and blaming him. Despite his lashing out, Miguel is genuinely good, self-sacrificial, and not consciously looking to bully, often refusing to share the burden of actions or knowledge that would hurt them.

In a million worlds his daughter is still alive, and he intends to keep it that way at the expense of the few. He will also brood in this dimly lit computer room until someone makes him shower.
Appearance

Artist Link. Miguel O'Hara is taller than Peter Parker — let's net out at 6'4"-6'5" instead of the obscenely tall number that's been floating around. His Dorito-physique is serum-aided and the result of obsessive training. This also applies to his height, which has been affected by his later experiments.

Miguel is one of the rare Spider-Men that has organic web spinnerets, though he supplements its strength with the tech of his suit - hence the red.

Unlike most other Spider-Men who operate on flexibility and agility, Miguel carries himself as more of a brute force. Capable of moving like a gymnast in spurts if he has to, his preference is to charge through on all fours or climb with claws to a target before trying to gracefully swing his way through a city. He navigates a bit slower than smaller, leaner Spider-Men like Miles and Gwen as a result, but going point A to point B, he's likely to overtake them and any hurdles.

Facially, he's got good looking angular features, intense brows, the whole "that guy looks like he needs an anti-constipation prescription and a modeling contract". He also has red eyes that allow him to see further and in the dark, so he's usually sporting sunglasses outside of work.

His claws are extensions of his fingertips and toes, not his nails, forming and retracting with concentration. They're strong enough to pierce concrete. It hasn't been confirmed if this variant's arm blades are organic or suit-based extensions, they'll be treated as retractable keratin as in the comic.

Fun fact: his suit is nanotech rather than fabric, telepathically controlled, and he's not wearing anything under it. Creator and comic confirmed.

The fangs are not because he's a vampire, pinky promise. Miguel embodies more of the physical characteristics of a spider, and as a result, his retractable (not in the comics) fangs excrete non-venomous temporary paralytic. He can and will use them for violence as a last resort.
Abilities & Skills
Enhanced Strength & durability
Underwent a brutal transformation, arguably a little more durable and strong than the average Spider-Man hand to hand
enhanced senses & Reflexes
Can perform the usual web slinging agility tricks in a pinch, though he notably does not have spider sense, only enhanced body senses
Accelerated Healing
Can survive and recover from a lot of blunt force damage, though not invulnerable to bullets or knives, still bleeds, bruises, and breaks
Organic Webbing
Forearm spinnerets produce varying thickness of web at will, supplemented by the red nanotech of his suit
Talons & Blades
Retractable extensions of bone and keratin from his fingertips and forearms allow him to better grip surfaces and attack enemies
Paralytics Fangs
Retractable only in the movie, his fangs can be used to harm or to inject non-venomous temporary paralytic that wears off over hours

Looking for (Ship)
  • Not a must — he's certainly not looking for it
  • Prefer case-by-case chemistry with slow burn or discussion
  • Slow burn or friends to romance and annoying domesticity is chef's kiss
  • On the flip side, he has canon one-time cheated
  • He leans M/F, with maybe Peter B as an exception
  • Open to poly, usually Miguel/MJ/Peter B
  • Jess Drew, Mary Jane Watson, Xina Kwan, Dana D'Angelo are a strong comic/film canon possibility
  • Layla El-Faouly, Wanda Maximoff, a couple less canon interests
  • No aged up film!kids — they're totally welcome to have a kid crush (hilarious), but he won't reciprocate that, he is only your mean dad
  • Age-appropriate variants of Gwen/etc. from other dimensions are fine, but follow the spirit of the law as well as the letter, if you catch my drift
